Écossé - No Haggis Pizza for me!

 No Haggis Pizza for me!

So today we got in bus 11 and were shepherded to Edinburgh on a lovely bus where we snoozed,  gazed and I tried to knit but (note to self- tiny projects take up less space, but are hard to do on a bumpy road!)

We were dropped off on the west side of Charolette Square, nearish to Edinburgh Castle.  I know enough about Mary Queen of Scotts to be dangerous and I was eager to see this castle.

It was a serious climb and this trek is not for the handicapped!  Well, there were a couple of folks dropped off writhin the castle in cars, so MAYBE but I wouldn’t begin to know how.      I did wish i had taken my walking stick.
Scotts Tower from a distance

Regardless we got to the castle and were early and they are relatively strict about that! So we had to stand and wait for a bit.

AND entrance was seriously crapped up, which diminished the experience for me.

These Guys are Robert the Bruce

And Wallace, a nearby guide said in a lovely Scotch’s accent « this is Mel, I mean Wallace ».  I had to laugh.

He does look a bit like Mel, dosent he?

The castle was a smaller than I expected.  And I happen to know old ( Who was not ever really old tanks to her cousin Elizabeth and Politics in general). Mary was not a small woman, I think 5’11.  It was hard to imaging her riding in on horseback let alone in a carriage.

There was a cemetary for military Dogs, which considering the amount of real estate available in this castle, was charming!

It Certainly spoke to the value of dogs.   The St Margaret Chapel was SMALL!

We did not really get to see much of the rooms in the castle, one room was only visible via a couple or mirrors.

We left the castle and began to walk the Royal mile,

but my dogs were barking along with all the dogs spirits in the cemetery so we stopped for coffee and a goodie, Well for me as I has spied bake well tart and I had not experienced that before, SO….

I rounded the corner and about gasped as I thought Claire was sitting with this person until I realized.

We wandered, spent money and enjoyed most of the buskers.

I am just going to have to return as I really wanted to see St Giles Cathedral and we just did not have time.

The ride back was a little « dosey » too, Claire slept more than I .  The driver played some Scotch music for us and that was lovely.

At dinner we were blessed by Bob and Cuthbert, but also another couple that was plesant though she wears about 7-8 rings and that always worries me…….After dinner we went to the show again, tonight was a medley of stuff but it was all Claire and I could do not to laugh as this very lovely couple beside ( Seriously he was hot and she was pretty) sang along with every song.   He wasn’t bad, but still……. I have memories of another person in another time who did this as well.
