Medieval Sliced by a Shard

Our morning started with French Toast and a sausage (not what I was expecting) for me and A bagel for Claire.

After breakfast we headed toward the Tower of London and went straight to the Crown Jewels.

It was not what I remembered and yet part of it was.  Of course there is a new royal person since I was last here.  Lots of info/propaganda about King Charles and Camilla.  I remembered a conveyor belt that one stood on and passing the jewels in a vault, however I remembered it much longer and with more.  What I did not remember was all of the crowns without their jewels that have been repurposed.   And all of the replicas of things , at least they were honest about it.

We also went up in the Tower, that was a but tough for this old girl, but in spite of the grumbling behind me I did it.  OH, yes the grumbling was coming down, it is just limited and limiting!

I always think a lot about may Queen of Scots when I am in the Tower.

We then hoofed it across the Tower bridge which is awe inspiring I think, towards the Shard.  I do not remember this building but is is pretty cool.

There are several buildings that I do not remember and enjoy taking in.

At the Shard we had “High Tea” at Ting in the hotel Shangri-La. It was great to be up that high, and the food was yummy.

The Shard cake was an experience!

From there we taxied to Westminster Abby to make our 3PM entry time.

I enjoyed seeing everything, again.

Some of it was also not exactly as I remembered, mostly layout stuff.
Look to the right and down of the statue below

The ceiling.

I did have to place my tongue firmly in my cheek at the Poets corner and the lack of size for the Brontë sisters vs Bill.

I had to laugh as we walked out and there was this building with the words “Methodist Central Hall” right across the street.

We went back and rested a bit, but I was about to fall asleep, we wanted something light. Every pub was so full people were spilling out on the streets, and we even went in one that we thought MIGHT be a little less populated and there was no place for us.

We ended up in a Chinese place and it was honestly not great, I had chicken corn soup and Claire had wonton soup , and we were going to share spring rolls but they were SO greasy that they got left.  We moseyed home and are planning on finishing up our goodies from Tea.
